Has anyone heard any news on this? I heard that it might be happening but I can't find anything on it.

Au Pair in America is notifying all their eligible families and au pairs about this already, but here is the gist of it: Eligible APs will have an extension end date between July 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021.
this Special DOS Extension offers a maximum end date of July 31, 2022. Therefore, APs will be eligible for more than a 6 mos extension.
Deadline will be September 1, 2021.

Cultural care told us today that second year au pairs ending July to December can extend for 6, 9 or 12 months.

We haven’t heard anything from CC. Our au pair ends in august and had just applied for a change of status to a tourist visa as a bridge to getting a student visa, so I don’t know what this would mean for her.

Her current J1 is basically invalid as soon as they change it to a tourist so she can't extend with the exception.

So she just submitted it and many people who have applied have been waiting months for the change of status. I guess it’s just limbo? Or if she does the j-1 extension would that supersede the application?

Our au pair wants to extend for a third year which is GREAT news for us! But I really feel bad for the new au pair who was supposed to come in august. But at this point she hasn’t even been able to make a visa appt, much less get a visa. So we had no guarantee that she would even make it by august. There must be a really significant visa crisis that these agencies were able to extend au pair visas by an extra year.
