Hello neighbors!

Tiffany Green, my excellent nanny/ sitter of almost 8 years has started her own nanny placement and virtual babysitter service in the Washington, DC area. She has over 10 years of childcare experience and has excellent references from the many families she has worked with. Her company Nounou Nanny finds, vets, background checks, and refers excellent childcare providers. Her pricing model is competitive with other agencies and she offers installment payments which is super beneficial.

In fact, she helped our family find our most recent nanny during the pandemic... and my kids are all about her. You can easily book virtual babysitting time slots on her website so you can join your work meeting (or just have a moment of quiet) while your kids learn and play online. The homework help online session is pure gold- the virtual sitter we have is super patient with my 8 year old daughter and helps her understand her math problems.

If you are looking for a nanny or virtual sitter I would highly recommend checking out her website and services. Below is her info:

I'm curious as to how this works. If my kid is old enough to have someone on the computer tell them to not bother mom during a conference call, then they should be old enough not to bother mom without someone telling them through the computer. I can't really picture a toddler in a playpen area being monitored by someone virtually while parents are busy. And my 8 year old is well behaved enough to not come barging in if we say we are going to be on a call.

I mean if you're paying for an online tutor, that is one thing. But an online babysitter? I just don't get it.

You say she's your nanny, but then you say she helped your family find your most recent nanny. So which is it?

Correct, she was my full time nanny, years ago when my 8 Yr old was an infant. She has gone on to start her own nanny placement and virtual babysitting company, and she helped me find my current nanny who cares for my daughter and 3yr old son.

as for the virtual sitting- kids play and interact online (you can choose different developmental activities based on age group, https://www.nounou-nanny.com/book-a-virtual-sitter), and also have the option get homework help.

its been really useful for me honestly, just wanted to share as think its an excellent idea..

I think you're pimping out yourself, and using the "I was her employer" story to try to sound legit. But really, you're marketing your own business for free.

either way, and despite what you think, the service is light and worth taking a look at ..

$25 for 30 minutes. Why? Youtube is free.

No way.

Babysitting is in person, so that the caregiver can attend to safety and physical needs.

Tutoring may be virtual, but tutors who command $50+/hour heave experience and education beyond just homework help.

Right? No nanny charges $50 an hour, even the IN PERSON ones.

This sounds absolutely ridiculous. Who would pay for this? It's a sitter service that only works if there is still a parent physically in the home with the child? There is no point if I can't leave the house.

This. Either the child is young in which case a virtual babysitter is either 1. not appropriate for safety reasons (like you can't stick a 2 year old in a pen and just have someone on the computer watch her) 2. going to scream and cry for the parent or go looking for the parent OR the child is old enough to self entertain for a couple of hours. I can't imagine using this for my 8 year old. And there is no way I'd use it for my 4 year old, who would just come looking for me or cry because I had him locked off in some safe area.

So on this crazy website, it says, "Please note: at this time we are only providing virtual sessions per individual child." Wtf does that mean? It's $30 per kid, per hour??? So it is twice that for two kids, or what?

If my kid starts taking a whole bottle of Tylenol, what does the "virtual sitter" do about that? Does she call 911, and do I then get my kids taken away because they were neglected and poisoned themselves?

There are so many things wrong with this. It's just a terrible idea.

It means that they don't have anyone very experiences with virtual tutoring or dong dl, and they can't entertain more than one child at a time.

So when kid wanders away from screen what does virtual sitter do. Bizarre idea by someone hoping to make money while doing nothing.

This is so obviously the owner of this business.
