When you have the right candidate, how do you know for sure? I have interviewed MANY people for a new nanny position, and I think I am finally at the right one for our family, but wondering how other MBs make the final choice. |
Connection and gut feeling. |
Our dog REALLY liked one more than the others. |
Due diligence. Something will set one apart. |
lol I hope this is not a joke post. |
It's a gut feeling but you never really know until you've worked together for some time. Also sometimes both nannies and families will ignore small signs of imperfection because they are so desperate to make a match. And no relationship is ever perfect anyway. Of course trust your gut when hiring or applying for a job but just know that it may take some time to find out if you've made the right decision. |
I just knew. I considered staying home with my baby until I met our nanny and she had knowledge and a skill set that I simply don’t possess. Plus, I liked her right away. Plus her references all talked about how she’s still in her former charges’ lives so I knew it was more than just a job for her.
It’s worked out brilliantly! |
We found the references to be helpful. They all had good references but most were generic and said she was on time, etc. But all of the references for the nanny we hired were glowing in a non-factual way. I.e. one said "I was so excited when she texted me last week asking that I serve as a reference because she was such a special part of our kids' lives." Another one said "Two years after she nannied for us she was in town and came over to say hi one evening after the kids had gone to bed because that was the only time she was available. The kids found out the next day that they had missed seeing her and were in tears so I ended up asking her to babysit just so they could play with her again." |
