Has anyone heard from their agencies about what happens with the Executive Order expires — like a timeline for arrivals, etc? Safe to say it won’t be extended under a Biden administration. Any scoop when embassies will grant visa appointments? |
This is what I heard from cultural care this week: we expect that on January 1, 2021, the Presidential Proclamation that prevents routine processing of J-1 visas will expire, so an exemption should not be needed for an au pair who will be applying for her visa in 2021. |
The issue wont be the the EO; it will be getting an interview to get the visa.
Our AP from SA has had her appointment moved to Feb now.....and that will probably move again....so April is our hope now. Depends on the consulates really. Airlines are happy to fly, just the visa is the wild card. |
I would expect Biden to be be quicker on the trigger to shut travel down again during flu season so spring for arrivals would be best case to plan for arrival.
The cdc is already gearing up to recommend shut down of international travel early December. |
