Our car insurance won't accept her international license but we have not been able to get an appointment for the in-car assessment with the DMV. She passed the knowledge component a while ago. The driving schools also say they can't do the in car assessment for individuals that have international licenses. We messaged the DMV and they just said we need to use the online appointment system. I have checked every location in Virginia many times. There are no appointments. She has been here more than 6 months, which apparently means she can no longer drive on just the international license so switching insurance won't help. I am out of ideas. Do you have any? Thanks!

have you tried the DMV Connect option? they are smaller places that do some of the services. I've only had luck getting an appointment for a license on weekdays, they are only doing licenses on Tuesday and Thursdays. I believe they release new appointments daily during the week but not on weekends

Good luck. I needed a Real ID license, but could never find a DMV appointment online and every time I called DMV they claimed all 200+ lines were busy. (probably "working" from home). I ended up getting the 2 year extension through mail in (even the online site didn't work for me).

Look online and find out when they release the next batch of appointments, and be sure to check for next day appointments too.

Maybe look into switching insurers? We switched to progressive because they allowed the international drivers license and didn’t require a state issued license.

They’re not supposed to insure after 6 months.
