Boss wants me to take a covid test RSS feed

...so they can open their bubble to see friends. I am very strict about quarantine and don’t want to take a test. It’s uncomfortable and also I don’t want someone who is testing people for covid putting their hands near me. Is it reasonable for me to say no? The kids are 1 and 3 and they aren’t getting tested, just the adults.

I feel like this is unnecessary and invasive. Plus the time it will take (unpaid) for me to go get a test.

Just wanted to hear some thoughts please, before I decline. They want me to do the test next week.

Forgot to add that I won’t be facilitating any of the play dates (I refused) and won’t be seeing the kids. It’s for weekends/afternoons - I am part time.

I would just do the test. It’s really not bad and it’s so fast. No one will have their hands on you.

But definitely insist on being paid for the time as well as the test.

Take the test but only if they pay for your time.

$150 and they can buy you a Vault saliva test online. It’s mailed in 24 hours usually, you take the test in front if someone via Zoom, and get the results back in 24 hour.

Take the test, OP. You’re making a mountain out of a molehill. It’s no big deal and a great way to track the virus.

My employer’s mother just flew in for the birth of her second grandchild and isolated for five days where she was tested three times -day one, day three and day six and then cleared. She said it was s totally painless and NBD.

They want me to do the nasal swab test. If it was just the saliva one I wouldn’t have a problem with it.

Thank you for responding. Should I put a cap on how many times I’ll take a test? They’re talking about multiple play dates and taking the test before all of them.

Absolutely not.

I'm living in with a family. I agreed to quarantine, then test. That was once, when I got here. The parents and I are in agreement that the children will only have playdates outside, with masks, so none of us are worrying about further testing. There's no way I would agree to more testing. I have very narrow nasal passages, allergies and year-round inflammation; the test left me with bloody noses and sneezing clots for 2 days. I spoke to my doctor and was specifically warned to test only when absolutely necessary.

It sounds like you’re no longer a fit for this position? Find a family who doesn’t want to break their bubble. They’ll be be grateful for a strict nanny.

Just take the test. I had the nasal swab test and it’s not bad. So did my 20 month old charge - he didn’t even cry.

NBD. Take the test.

+1. If they are opening their bubble and starting playdates, that will increase your risk going forward. Find a family that appreciates you.

Only five days from the flight? Not long enough if one is exposed on the plane.

Unless you have been exposed there is no need to take a test. I would tell her no. Stick to your guns. On fact, if she wants to.open up, I would be looking for a new job.
