Do potential employers see something different on care.com?

On my profile on care.com, my hourly range is $30 to $35. Yet I occasionally get inquiries with job postings attached for positions as low as $15 to $20. Are parents not seeing my hourly quote?

I always respond with a polite decline and never mention why, of course. But I’m curious why they would even contact me.

No idea, I'd never contact someone out of my price range. If I were a nanny i also wouldn't bother responding to those. Life is short.

I had a family tell me outright that they would be an exception for me. $10/hour less than my minimum.

Not in all markets and/or for specific educational qualifications.

Regardless, it’s a waste of time to offer anyone half their quote. It’s not how to do business.

Well, they assume incorrectly and you are fact-avoidant. I started at $30 an hour for one newborn in Los Angeles and am now up to $32 an hour almost two years later.

-1. I can promise you they are paying $30 an hour for college educated, former preschool teachers in LA and NYC. $30 is starting with one child. No lie.

I have posted before on here about my cousin who is a nanny is the southern California area.

BS degree in psychology and yes she is getting $30/hr for 3 kids. Pre-covid -- she's going into her 3rd year with them . She will go back for her masters in a year or 2 when covid calms down but right now it's a good job at a good rate. The family knows this -- they are paying her well to keep her happy there in their family.

There are a lot of 20/hr nannies there but they are mostly limited -English immigrants with no degree. They do more housekeeping than nanny-ing. That works for a lot of families but many families can and will pay more for a very qualified nanny.

My cousin keeps me up to date on this as she trying to get me to move there and do the same. Underemployed social sciences major here with no prospects for 30/hr job.

Nanny; They probably think it is a TYPO to be honest. I have had many parents do the same thing to me, and let them know I am worth EVERY penny. Cheap Parents make me sick to my stomach.
