Overseas Au Pairs This Fall?

| We are hoping to welcome an au pair to our home in DC in September. Initially we searched for extension au pairs as that would avoid the visa and travel ban issues. However, we have found an amazing au pair currently located in Mexico City. Would it be setting us up for disappointment to match with her? What is the likelihood she could get her visa and come by September? |

| You are in a much better position her coming from Mexico than Europe, Africa, or South America. But the issue is if she doesn’t already have a visa appointment there is a significant backlog with the Embassies. There is also the risk of an executive order J-1 visa ban. You could hedge your bets and get a short term extension au pair for 3 months. |

| Can you bring her here earlier than September? Mexico is currently the only country that au pairs are coming from right now. |
