Hello!
Have heard several families mention never extending with their APs. Curious about the reasonings behind this. Are there concerns about second year slump? (If so, is this decreased if they go to a new family in year2?) Is it due to preferring a new cultural exchange? Other thoughts? Than you! |
So this was our initial policy, but we have extended with each of our last two au pairs and they both as fabulous in year 2 as they were in year 1 |
It is strange to me 9yr host family here, 5 AuPairs. We've clearly had some excellent AuPairs. When we find a good one we keep them as long as we can! Consistency and less work. |
I’d only extend with a really really good au pair, not an ok one. Everything they do wrong will just annoy you more the second year. And everything you do wrong will annoy them more as well.
I think kids transition between au pairs better after a year. After two years, they tend to have a more difficult time with the change. |
