VA Families -- Friday 2/21 action -- Keep up the calls

FRIDAY ACTION -- host families have been following this more closely than the non-committee members have been. They heard it failed and figured we moved on. WE ARE STILL HERE. S.804 goes to the floor next. And the agencies are still actively looking for another vehicle. To add an exclusion. I think it is time to inform our members what happened last night and ask that they come out an PUBLICLY SUPPORT AN AU PAIR EXEMPTION. This could make it easier to get an amendment down the line. We only have about two weeks to get something done in the session.
Remind them that Delegate Sullivan called it an "au pair" problem and said he is actively looking for a solution.
Delegate Wilt actively spoke out for the au pair families.
Delegates Kory and Keam actually voted again the bill before a second vote was called.
Delegate Sullivan said he is in discussions with Sen McClellean.
ASK YOUR REPS TO PUBLICLY ANNOUNCE THEY SUPPORT AN AU PAIR EXEMPTION.
Please keep up the calls and pressure. Educate the staff and members.

NEW APPROACH VA FAMILIES as of Fri 2/21 at 11a -- Please pull back from Sen McClellan's office - unless she is your member. Message has been received. Del Sullivan mentioned that he spoke with her and she didn't intend to include au pairs. She thinks we are covered in other exemptions in her bill. An amendment to S.804 is unlikely at this point. INSTEAD....

PLEASE focus on your Senator & Delegate. Ask for their public support of the program. Send them pictures. Keep up the pressure. I understand there will be a message from at least one agency soon.

We need to give a day or two for some things to develop for a specific ask. In the meanwhile, keep up the general push with stories, pictures, etc. There is work behind the scenes. Just don't stop the drumbeat!!
