I’m stumped for something new my charge can make his mother and grandparents for Valentine’s Day. We do paintings every week so another painting is nothing special.

Thanks, Nannies!

Painting at https://www.claywire.com/

Pick out something with a large-ish open surface. Let the child “paint” with their hands on it or do handprints. I’d suggest something with a very, very basic border, that can be painted in under 5 minutes, after you get the toddler cleaned up and playing with a toy in the stroller. Put the child’s name and the date on the back.

They’ll fire them and you can pick up a week later.

Get an apron or a canvas bag and do hand/footprints on it.

MB here. There's really no need. I'll know you did all the work and the baby had no idea what was going on. I'll throw it out after a few days. Just play with and read to the baby. No need for holiday things, especially at such a young age.

MB here. I love the stuff my baby “makes” for me! I love that nanny goes to the trouble every birthday, Mother’s Day and Christmas!

OP, you know your MB. Please don’t listen to this poster unless you are sure they’re alike.

For that age you should cut out hearts and heart stickers and let your toddler stick them on card stock with a glue stick. Let him choose the hearts and put them anyplace he wants. It’s pretty cute because they always want to clump them together.

I’m also going to let my same-age charge pick a bouquet of flowers for his mom with neighbors’ permission. (We’re in LA - lots of flowering bushes).

A 15-month old child has no more idea of Valentine's Day than he has of his own birthday! Make a heart out of red construction paper and paint on it, "My heart beats for you" and Lin it on his onesie

Of course he doesn’t know what Valentine’s Day is! How is that remotely the point?!

He isn't making the gift, you are, so it has no meaning

My 14 month old charge can finger-paint, stick cutouts on paper, use crayons to “dot”, sprinkle glitter, use a paint brush...

The point is most women with a heart love what their babies and grand babies make for them. It has great meaning to them.

It has the same meaning that anything they do for mom/Grandma does. If the child is verbal and says it’s “special” it has more meaning. But it honestly comes down to whether they’re the kind of adult who values toddler art.

I hope to God you aren’t a parent or nanny.

I sort of agree but I have all the finger paintings my kids did as toddlers and find them adorable.

OP, cut out a heart and make a hand print. Write: "This was the hand you used to hold when I was 15 month old." Guaranteed tear jerker for decades and mom will remember who arranged this.
