We have had a wonderful nanny for the past 3 years for our DD. We normally give her a Christmas bonus of two weeks pay. Our nanny is sadly leaving us to return to her home country in West Africa for personal reasons. Her last day was in November but she still helps out from time to time before leaving the states permanently. Would you still pay her the usual Christmas bonus despite the fact she is not technically employed? |
Yes. She worked eleven months.
|
I would give it to her. Did you also give her a parting bonus? If so, then maybe not quite a two weeks bonus. |
Yes of course! |
Yes !!! |
Why do you even need to ask this? She took care of the most important people in your life for almost a year! Of course, you give her a bonus and. Very generous bonus!!!! |
I would likely have given her the bonus on her last full time day as a parting bonus. It’s not necessary of course, but a nice show of gratitude. |
Wow. This question after 3 years. I will NEVER be a nanny again, it’s heartbreaking to see the reality of most situations. |
Only in nannying would it even be a possibility to get a bonus from someone you are not working for anymore. NOWHERE else would that ever happen. |
+1 |
You don't know if they already gave her a parting bonus or not. I feel sorry for your children. |
Not true. I left a non-profit at the end of February, and got my bonus check in the mail in September (our FY ran July-June, so it was for 8 months, not 12). I was surprised, that's for sure. |
Well, my former employer has sent me two bonuses after I left. He couldn’t afford a bonus while I was there, has been able to do it twice since, and he wanted to show how grateful he was for all I did for his kids. Ymmv. |
Yes it I would have given it to her on her last day. |
It’s never too late for bonuses and gratitude!
So nice that you are doing it, may god bless you Most families don’t even think like you! You sound great! Other families should take an example of you |
