I've done this before but forget. How soon after they arrive can AP apply for a SSN? Do they need that to get a DL?

Download and Complete Form SS-5 and bring to SS office;
Print and Bring I-94 to SS office;
Bring DS-2019 Letter (Certificate of Eligibility for Exchange Visitor Status) to SS office;
Bring Au Pair Agency Confirmation Letter to SS office.
Bring Passport (with stamp) to SS office.

Week after AP comes to your house should be ok for SSN. Yes they need it for DL.

In my state, we go for SSN right away. Once AP has it they use it to get a bank account, and then they use both of those to get a DL.
