| I’d probably offer up to the amount of her next bonus plus whatever parting bonus we would give her if she resigned / we let her go on good terms (like moving or kids no longer needing nanny care), and assuming she comes back healthy, give smaller (but not zero) bonuses/gifts for a bit. For us that’d be about 3 weeks right now, but that depends on your situation. |

| ^ Meant to add I would also let her use up all her remaining PTO for the year (including “our choice” vacation), assuming she has been with you for >1 year. |

| thanks, everyone! It is a long-standing relationship so we will likely go with one month and then re-evaluate. we have other backup options for now that are manageable. |
