I didn’t Get Paid RSS feed

I want to start off saying that I only work longterm above board, but I decided to take a temp cash job ( for 3 weeks) while I’m in between jobs. I was meant to be paid cash every week, but MB said DB accidentally took some do the cash from her purse meant for me. I’m an understanding person, and I told her she can give me the rest today ( I had off yesterday). MB replied “ I don’t know if I will go to the bank this weekend”. I told her that not getting paid is unacceptable, and that I need the money Tuesday morning. I go in today and MB didn’t have my pay. I feel bad, but I feel likely telling her I won’t go back in until I’m paid. MB has been so nonchalant and dismissive as if it’s not a big deal. If I were an employer, and I didn’t have enough to cover pay for that week, I would run to the ATM right there or make sure I had it first thing the day she came back. I feel like it’s such a lack of respect. I want to tell her I can’t help her out, but I know she needs the help.

Op here. That’s not my OP. I only started last week, and I haven’t missed any days or have been late.

Yes, ask her to go to the ATM or leave.

You do not go back and you straight to Small Claims Court and file a claim against her. She is a dead beat
No excuse.

MB here.

I urge you to quit if they refuse to pay you be the end of tomorrow. Mistakes happen, but her failing to fix it immediately shows how little she values your services and you as a person. If I didn’t have the cash to pay my nanny, I would make sure I had it for her first thing when she came back to work. Your employer making excuses shouldn’t be tolerated. You’re in your right to quit if she does not compensate you for hours worked.

I just wonder if this is a woman who is trying to run a hustle on you & perhaps never pay you for your services.

Just tell her that you simply cannot return to a job where you haven’t been properly compensated as of yet.

Who in their right minds could even blame you....??!

Do not return until you are paid in full.

+1. Do not think is going to change. Your last week, you can expect to get paid nothing! Quit, OP.

Not sure if you can sue her if you were working illegally though. You need the back pay at the beginning of the shift or don't work it.

It was a short term gig - there is no legally or illegally - OP is an independent contractor.

She needs to pay you NOW. Don't do any more work until you are paid.
