Trying to get an idea of what this costs. FTM here, and exploring this idea for the first time.

Thank you!

We do a share with our 13 month old and a 16 month old. We pay $11.50 each. We also split all sick days, PTO, and vacation. Typically, if one family needs OT but not the other then one family will pay in full for the OT.

I pay $14 an hour. Time and a half for anything over nine hours. Nanny gets two weeks vacation at her choosing and all federal holidays. We also have an arrangement with the other family that we continue to pay for all 52 weeks whether we are here or not. Obviously we pay for all supplies, food and half the cost of a double stroller. Luckily we live in walking distance to library, classes, market and park otherwise we would have also had to pay for an additional car seat and half the nanny’s mileage.

We pay $12.50 each, all federal holiday off, 2 weeks vacation, 5 sick days, $200 towards health insurance. Nanny has 14+ years of experience, this is her third nanny-share, not much education. Nanny share can cost you any where from $10-$15, depending how educated/experienced the nanny is. Also depends what you are looking for, plus your area.

How much does it add up to monthly?
And do you deal with taxes yourself, or pay a service to handle?

Thank you!

Their totals won’t be yours. Run a budget with the home the and low end, using the numbers of hours you work and commute. Make sure to budget for OT if needed. Add 7% (about that) for employer taxes. That’s the minimum. Now, think about what you would do for vacation, sick days, weather emergencies and federal holidays (if you don’t have them off and nanny wants them off). Think about whether you would want to host (higher utilities, more wear/tear on toys and books) vs. not host (added commute to other family’s home, extra supplies required at their home). Think about how much you can spend up front for a new car seat, half of a double stroller, any baby furniture, etc.

Some families do taxes themselves. Some use a free online tax calculator to print the pay stub. Some use a partial service, and others use full service. It can range from nothing to over $500 per year.

We don’t know your finances, how you prioritize your budget, how many hours you need or even where you are. Without more information, our hands are tied.

Hourly total is 24.50, plus some overtime. We use the Homepay payroll service, and I really like the customer service.
