Nannnies: do you wear make up to work? RSS feed

I am a nanny to a preschooler and infant. I drop off and pick up older from school. Otherwise, I am home all day with infant. It seems ridiculous to wear makeup everyday when I’m just with a baby all day. I wear “everyday” makeup. It’s not heavy or over the top, but there’s a huge difference between me wearing make up and not. Nannies, do you wear makeup and if so what do you wear?

Nope, I never wear makeup. Too much effort, lol!

So are you saying you’d like to just not wear any?

I just wear foundation/powder and lip balm.

Op here and yea I don’t like wearing makeup but look like a dead bird with no makeup on

Yes, I wear light, natural makeup and it takes me 5-10 minutes to apply.

Nope...I sweat and rub my face too much bc we spend a lot of time outside.

Lmao stop, I’m sure you look fine! A dead bird...omg.

If you really hate the way you look without it, maybe just try lightening it up and see how that works? What are you applying, just foundation/eyeliner/lipgloss?

That’s a huge reason for me, too! Especially now that it’s summer, I definitely wouldn’t be able to get away with it. I get way too hot for that! :p

Some days I put a little mascara on, but definitely not every day. Depends on my mood and how much time I have in the morning.

Definitely not with babies and toddlers bc I would get makeup on them if I did! I always wear light makeup when I go out but never to work.

Some tinted moisturizer, mascara, and a light lipstain.

My MB and I joke because we are both makeup junkies who love trying different looks, and we both work in jobs where wearing a ton of makeup would be weird.

No way. Even if I wasn't allergic, I constantly have kids all over me. For example, this is just today: unknown number of cheek and penguin kisses, child on shoulders 5 or 6 times (hands on my face/neck more often than anywhere else!), child played with my hair, child rubbed cheeks together, child cuddled (hair against my cheek), child ran up and jumped into my arms (knocked foreheads), etc. That doesn't account for the amount I sweat while walking outside and in the museum or while playing with kids! There's no way that any makeup would stay put for more than 5 minutes unless it was paint.
