I had the worst nightmare last night

I had a horrible dream that my charge and I were on a plane and it was going to crash. My 18 month old charge seemed to understand that this was the end and we just held each other. There was a crash but we were okay. When we arrived at where we were going, I couldn't find our passports and every time I looked in my bag for them, she was off doing something incredibly dangerous like playing with snakes or about to fall out of the car.

I actually woke up in a cold sweat and couldn't shake the terrified feeling. I NEVER have nightmares! Nothing in my job or world has changed.

Where do you think that awful dream came from?

I have had dreams like this a few times about my charges. It is just a reflection of the responsibility, I think, and the love you probably feel for her. Every so often our subconsciouses get overloaded with the responsibility of caring for another little human and act out. Acknowledge that you love your charge and that it is a huge responsibility to keep her safe and healthy every day.

I’ve had nightmares involving my charges.

I think parents do too, it’s the anxiety of the massive responsibility that comes with raising a child in dream form.

Mine usually involve water or heights.

That's fine if you don't, but OP might. When I research my own dreams it is surprisingly accurate.
