It really depends on your entire history. I am a former agency owner, and sometimes worked with nannies who had things go awry with one employer, or had one employer who gave a neutral or poor reference.
It was only if the rest of their history was stellar, including their references... and/or I could tell that something was off with the person who gave the poor reference. Another important factor is how the nanny handled disclosing the information, and how she presented her side of the story.
One of the best nannies I worked with had things go awry with one of her positions. She wasn't fired, though, she ultimately quit. But, I placed her about 3 times over my time in the business, and she was excellent. I think the one family would have had problems with any nanny they hired, they just weren't good employers.
OP, what exactly what wrong? Why were you fired?
