When posting on Nanny Search, why don't you include pay rate? RSS feed

I'm a nanny looking for a part time position, and I just noticed that no one includes their pay rate when posting position openings on the Nanny Search forum. I am very experienced and educated, and I am looking for a position that offers appropriate compensation. I'm not going to email every single poster asking what they pay though. Is there a reason people aren't including it on purpose in their posts?

Care.com in comparison is useful because it tells me the location and pay rate of perspective employers. I'm surprised many people posting on the Nanny Search forums don't even include specific location such as neighborhood, or even city. There are a lot of posts in the MD Nanny Search that could be anywhere in the state for all I know. Yikes. This really makes it difficult for perspective nannies looking for work.

Every time I've posted on the Nanny Search forum here, I've been unsure if there are really nannies reading it! It also covers such a wide geographic area, that I prefer to get an email address and send more details. I also don't want to get into an argument with our resident trolls about my rate and benefit package. On Care, or Craigslist, or other forums, people who aren't interested just don't apply. Here, there are a few people who feel the need to "educate" everyone. Constantly.

Because no one wants a snide comment of "That is ridiculously low. Good luck!"

Because compensation is a negotiation. Most jobs don’t post the pay rate.

Interesting. If it’s really a negotiation, there wouldn’t such a big deal about parents wanting to know what everyone else pays. In my experience, every family has a magic number and they will not budge more than a dollar or two higher than that number during negotiations, so it doesn’t matter what my qualifications are, it doesn’t matter what I can offer, the only thing I can do is be persuasive and try for the higher number.

I think that’s also a lot of non-domestic work too. Company has a ideal number and a max number for salary and doesn’t budge. Might be because they can’t afford nor or don’t value the service more than that amount.
