Anyone else have a parent boss you absolutely despise? My MB is great but my DB is the most useless rude person I’ve ever met. Today he’s working from home in full view of the toddler
Am I alone? |
| Time to find a new job. Never stay in a job where you hate the boss because it will only get worse. |
| Yes, get another job. Do not work with nasty parents. |
| I had an MB I loathed once. "Working in plain sight" in front of a toddler is something that she would do and then shush us when she had to take a call rather than get up and leave the room. I swear she was on the autistic spectrum. She was (and still is) totally clueless. |

Your Dad Boss is being very rude (& acting simply clueless) by being in full view of his child.
I am quite sure he knows that this will make your job 120% harder. That is if he has working brain cells or not.
Yes, time to give them notice + walk. Far, far away...... Good luck to you OP! |
+1 Being a nanny is so different from a lot of fields. You need to actually like the parents. Sometimes it takes awhile to find the right family unfortunately! |
Do parents not recognize how much harder this makes things in the kids? A toddler has no idea what Work is, only that mommy or daddy is teasing them with their presence and then ignoring them. Doesn’t matter how much kiddo loves the nanny, they want their parents. It just strikes me as the meanest thing ever. Do they do it to feel important? Do they like knowing their kid is crying for them over and over? Do they like making nanny the bad guy? Ugh. How hard is working behind a closed door in another room? |
Lot's of parents are stupid. It's as simple as that. |
She sounds like a jerk but so do you jumping to autism as some explanation. |

A lot of “work at home sometimes” parents are incredibly stupid this way! Ugh I got irritated just reading this. My bosses would do this. They would either be right in the dining room which is a pass through between the main rooms we use, OR they would work from their main floor bedroom with the door wide open so the kids would constantly run in there and I felt uncomfortable getting on the bed with dB to get them out while he just sat there. I eventually stopped going in to get them even if he was on the phone. He got the picture and started moving his butt to make them exit and closing the door. Weirdo.
Now I’m dealing with mb deciding she wants lunch at the same time I do the kids lunch and she gets in my way every. single. time. Even when I shoot for a different time. Here they all come. Then she sits with a completely different meal and they refuse to eat what I made and she gives them what they want. They get whiney and start stalling. I have started leaving the kitchen and letting her deal with it and I go do something else. Like look for a new job. |
