Granted, I have been working as a nanny 72 hours a week, seven days a week, for nearly two years. But now that is over and I am back to a five-day work-week at just 40 hours. This is my first weekend off and I just feel so tired and unmotivated.
I love being a nanny and I am very good at it. But I need to learn to "rejuvenate" on my newly found weekends - but how? I feel like I have forgotten to be anything but a nanny! And my friends have forgotten me! Thanks. |

Give yourself a few weekends to lie in bed in your pjs and watch Netflix!! You deserve a true rest, OP.
After a month or so, you can rejoin the adult weekend world! |

I am an older nanny and a widow so my social life might look very different from yours, OP. I love going for a run on Saturday and Sunday morning - undisturbed and silent - especially now that the weather should be getting cooler. I love being with adults - anyone I don't have to check the back of their pants for poo-poos!!! Adult music, adult company - coffee in bed with just me and my newspaper... Dinners with good friends.
I clean, grocery shop, do a little cooking on weekends to make the weekdays easier. Every Sunday night I am so ready to see my charges - it's really wonderful having a job where you miss your "boss" on a Sunday night! |
