Paypal? How long to show up?

I almost never use paypal (about once a year), but this week I coincidentally had 3 different bills I needed to pay that way, for a total of about $500. 2 bills were to the same people, and the 3rd to someone else.

My paypal account is linked to my bank account. My understanding was that the $ would be taken out immediately, like a transfer.

However, I paid the $ yesterday, and so far nothing is showing up in my account. The $ is still there.

Is this normal? Should I be concerned? Or will the money get taken out in the next few days?

Should I cancel the payments and send checks instead?

No, the money doesn't always go immediately. It depends on your bank. It's normal to take up to 5 business days, but for me it usually goes in less than 3.
