I would like to know how much you pay your au pair weekly for the 40hrs of childcare. Just what the au pair gets - not the agency fees.
Tia! |
We pay our $200 week and she works 40-45 hrs a week |
Plus room and board and car and insurance andandand. |
$200 plus gas for car, use of car, room, board, food, some toiletries, admission to area events, utilities, Netflix, cellphone and plan, laptop. She works about 36 hours per week. |
$200/week plus expenses |
BTW -- the $200 a week (technically, it's $195+) is a required stipend, each week, whether the au pair works 4 hours or 40 hours (and they can work no more than 45 hrs per week). |
$250/week for 25 hours/week. |
sooo many "ands." class fees, books, birthday and Christmas gifts, dinners out, flights and extra room when we go on vacation, extra adult costs for just about anything we do. but a nanny working a split schedule like ours and always being on call would be more for sure. |
$200/wk, but we barely graze 20hrs a week..
I closely track expenses. Program costs us 26k/yr. Our time is up in March and we wont be getting another AuPair. Looking forward to saving a ton of money! |
In addition to all the aforementioned things, the fees include health insurance.
To me the question is how much of the stipend is theirs to save/spend versus how much do they need to budget. Our AP pays for personal gas, toiletries, and meals out of the house. I didn't have that much discretionary income at their age. |
I wonder if that's true. My AP is 25. |
It does not cover health insurance. Nope nope nope. I know this because i always elect to pay for the highest level of insurance offered because ultimately i end up paying any medical bills anyways, might as well have as decent insurance as possible. Insurance is an added expense that normally comes out of the Aps pocket unless the house family covers it. |
Some cover insurance:
AU PAIR IN AMERICA PROVIDES MEDICAL INSURANCE AND PERSONAL LIABILITY PROTECTION FOR ITS PARTICIPANTS. Medical insurance for the au pair or companion includes treatment (less a $50 deductible per occurrence) by a physician or surgeon and hospitalization (semi-private room) to a maximum of $50,000 per illness or accident. The plan also includes some emergency dental procedures. Exempt are Pre-existing medical conditions, pregnancy, mental illness and most dental treatments. An optional insurance plan is offered which extends the medical coverage (to $500,000) and protects against loss of baggage. Au Pair in America is among the select few in-home care programs which offer Personal Liability Protection for its participants. Au pairs are covered for up to $100,000 under our basic insurance policy (automobile coverage not included). This increased protection benefits host families and au pairs/companions. |
We are with another agency, and some basic insurance is covered, but most AP are recommended to pay for supplemental, and most have taken the insurance (and I should say, most have had their parents pay for it- W. Europeans). |
