My question is has anyone ever been in a situation as the employer having a extra car they don't need and are planning on selling, to offer the nanny to have the car in exchange for being their nanny for free and then eventually after the car gets "paid off" by nanny services can then offer a paid position for nanny?

That's not a good deal for anyone. Nanny could decide not to work and keep the car. Nanny may not have the income to maintain it or pay insurance with no income.

How will you come up with money to put gas in it?

Did you need a newer vehicle?

Is the car they are selling what you would have wanted to buy if you were out car shopping?

I am a nanny. I am planning to buy a newer vehicle in about three years. The family I nanny for will be in the market to sell their vehicle in about two years. But they have a Porsche and I have a used Honda budget. I would much rather pay $15,000 for the car of my choosing than work for free until I had paid off a $40,000 vehicle.

Only a sucker would go for this. Nanny can work a regular job and get a new car on loan for $200/month. Insurance about $150, gas about $100/ month and regular maintenance like $50 every couple month. Give or take $400-500 every month. I usually pick up a couple night jobs or weekend jobs per month to handle just my car expenses and it's been a breeze. This OP is being ridiculous and planning to use the nanny.

Or, OP is the nanny trying to get a cheap car for free.
