How much of a Christmas bonus for new nanny? RSS feed

Our nanny has been working for us for 2 weeks now part time, how much of a Christmas bonus should we give her? I was thinking 100-200 bucks cash...not sure about a week's salary yet since she just started. Thanks!

That would be very generous and much appreciated by your nanny.

For context, my first year with my long-term family I began 2 months before Christmas. They gave me $250 cash that year and a week's salary the following year. We had an excellent relationship - my husband and I are having dinner with them next week, in fact!

$200-250 seems good. Something to show her that you're happy with her and committed to a good working relationship into 2017.

She just started, and she's part time.

So a Starbuck's gift card of $25 should suffice.

I am a nanny and I don't expect any kind of bonus from part time work

$100 should do well for being part-time and only two weeks.

You sound like a very generous employer and your new Nanny is very blessed to have you as her boss!

Do you work for Starbucks? I see this comment eveybody time when someone is referring for bonus.

I give paid time off around the holidays. Do others do that and still give the same amount for a bonus?

Our nanny started with us last September. For her first holiday season, we gave her roughly a week's pay in cash. She also took paid vacation at Christmas.

Thanks!

Don't give Starbucks's gift card....not everyone enjoys bitter coffee filled with cream. I am a part time nanny employed roughly four months ago and just received a week's bonus in cash and I am forever greatful to my employers considering they had to put up with my crazy unreliable college student schedule.

Last year we gave our nanny a week's pay and she ended up with a few extra paid days off around Christmas. She had started for us about 6 weeks before Christmas and we loved her and wanted her to be happy.

Our nanny started in Sept, we are doing about 350 cash, definitely less than some of the prior posters.

They sell more than coffee. I rarely get coffee there. Most of the time I pick up some juice and one of their food items.
