How to ask for a raise when there is a business manager? RSS feed

Anonymous
I work for a high profile couple on weekends and all of my employment "stuff" (time sheets, payroll, contracts and agreements) are handled directly by the business manager through email. After over a year of employ and a second baby, I plan to ask for a raise. However I am not sure who to ask -- my MB or the business manager or both in an email. All initial salary rates and benefits where handled by the business manager through emails although I have never met the business manager nor any of her people.

Thanks

I'd email the business manager and let her know you've worked for a year and the scope of the work has changed and you'd like a raise.

I'm an MB, and not high profile or with a business manager, so my advice may not be that helpful (though I manage a large staff in my day job.)

But my two cents would be to email the mother and cc the business manager. You can address the fact that you weren't sure who to discuss this with so you cc'd the business manager, but then both parties know. Your employer is the parent, not the business manager, so therefore the request is of your employer and the business manager will carry out their wishes.

Good luck.
