Live In Nanny Increase - Adding Second Child RSS feed

Anonymous
Hi all,

We're expecting another child early next year and we're wondering the appropriate hourly increase to give our live-in nanny? We would like her to stay and would like to agree on an increase that is fair to both of us.

Currently salary with room and board includes:
- guaranteed weekly pay minimum (regardless of hours worked)
- health insurance
- use of car
- 2 weeks paid vacation, 5 sick days

This is our first experience with a live in nanny so any advice is appreciated!

$1-2 more per hour.

$1-$2 an hour is good. The assumption for most nannies is that although the work load increases, in the next year or two your older child will be in preschool and the pay will stay the same.

Agree with the others - 1 or 2 more dollars per hour is standard.

Thanks so much for the replies!

Lie. Almost laughable and you know it.
More like $5/hr increase, and you know it.
