Rate for Nanny Share vs. Nanny for Two Children RSS feed

Would you expect the rates for a nanny share to be roughly the same as the rates for a nanny caring for two children? I'm thinking yes, as in both situations there are two children involved. Then again, it could be easier to care for only one infant and an older child, vs two infants. Thoughts?

I would not expect nanny share rates to be the same as rates for a single family with two children.

1) The logistics are much more complicated, including dealing with two sets of parents and their possibly conflicting values and parenting styles, arranging for PTO, etc.'
2) The children are often close in age, so similar to a twins situation, where rates are higher.

What incentive would a nanny have to take a job with four bosses vs. two bosses, if not for higher pay?

Share rates will be higher as it is a more difficult situation to navigate. It goes beyond number of children.

Op has never worked a nanny share.

No - share rates are higher - as 22:42 said, there are far more logistics, multiple employers to juggle, potentially differing schedules and approaches to childcare, etc...

My 1 family/2 children rate is $20 base.

My 1 family/1 child rate is $16 base.

My 2 families/2 children rate is $24 base. Each family pays 75% of my 1 family/1 child rate.

OP here. Thank you all. Our background is that we were in a nanny share, then had a nanny for our one child, and are now looking for a nanny for our two children.
