I have no idea where to begin with searching for a nanny! I would prefer to go through a sort of verified situation- would care.com be the best place to start? Our situation is such that we need a Nanny starting November 21st during work hours and shooting for a one month to two month situation (with breaks in between because we'll be traveling during the week of Christmas). would it be difficult to find someone who would be willing to do a month or two only?

You need to put in the exact dates in the ad. I imagine there would be people interested in such a short term gig, but you must be clear. I'd love a two month job at the moment because of big travel plans after Christmas, so that would be perfect for me. Surely there are others.

You need to pay when you're gone on vacation, you know.

Not for a short term job like that -- she only needs someone for the two months.

Well then perhaps you know someone suitable?

Your needs may be met by a nanny agency that places short term nannies.

I don't, but I would also suggest that she uses an agency, and does not offer paid vacation.

I needed a PT nanny for about 6 weeks two years ago, and Metro Parent Relief was able to help.

I also found a short term nanny when my regular nanny was gone for a couple of months just by asking around; one of my friend's nanny was part of a Brazilian au pair's network, and she knew someone looking for a short term gig.

Sure, I am quite sure there are people out there willing to do short-term work if they need to earn some extra cash.

Or perhaps a nanny who won't start a new position until the New Year would be ideal.

You can always go on Care.com, just keep in mind that ANYONE w/computer access + Internet can create a free profile & attach the term: Professional Experienced Nanny.

Your best bet would be to ask around for referrals or contact a babysitting service in your area.

Good luck!!
