Hi,
I run a small daycare at my home. Right now I watch 2 babies that come in on different day and time. Yesterday I have a new clients interested with my daycare BUT they want to put a monitor when their baby is with me. I'm not comfortable with the idea because I just don't like people watching me. Its make me feel uncomfortable. How can I reject the nanny cam idea in very nice way? I can provide them with references, background check etc but I just don't want to have the monitor in my house! Thanks! |
| Just say no thanks. And loose the opportunity to have a job. |

Would it be there always until the child quits your daycare or will it be installed only for the times that the child is actually in your care?
If it's the first, tell them you are uncomfortable with surveillance in your own home because while you're sure their intentions are good, you never know who can hack into the system and take advantage, etc. If it's the second, then just tell them that you prefer to walk unmonitored and your many recommendations and references can attest for your excellent care and attitude. This may cost you the job with this particular family, but you have to be comfortable in your work to actually do your work, so good luck! |
| Yes I would tell that family to only use it while their child is there. Btw have you ever thought of how in case that child get hurts, you can always protect yourself with that video. These parents seem like they don't trust..good luck |

Seems like there would be an issue w/ a camera for one family when other families have children there also. I don't know that I'd want someone else watching my kids (even though they're just other parents.)
But I think that you need to be able to lose their business obviously. Which, if you can manage financially, is probably just as well anyway - they would likely be a pain. |
| Absolutely not, OP. These people are nuts. Get rid of them. |
|
OP here, thanks for your input appreciate very much!
I told them I'm not comfortable with the monitor and they seem to understand my situation. Have a nice day to all of you ~ |

It is rude of them to actually request that since it is YOUR business....Not theirs.
For them to ask you to do something unique for them in your own establishment is just not right at all. Politely decline, unless of course you are super hard up for clientele now. After they get rejected at a few more daycare centers for this very reason, expect that they will be back wanting to enroll their baby. Sans the monitor of course. |
| I disagree, I think all businesses that are responsible for young children should be monitored by video of course and parents allowed to view ehenever and wherever they want. |
Do you understand that complete strangers can also be watching your kid? |
| My sons pre-school has camera's. |
