How much does a nanny cost in Chicago? It's for a single infant ( 3 month's old). 40/hour week and long-term. Family lives in LP. Looking for a nanny with 5+ years infant experience, certified, vaccinated, English speaking, and willing to have taxes withheld. Only expectation is housekeeping centered around child. We were thinking $16 ( net) with raises and bonuses in the future. What do you pay or charge?

I'm from a suburb a little west of Chicago. I would say a net of $16, is very good.

Previous poster here, also make sure to offer paid holidays and vacation, at least two weeks.

Just one thing I have heard is that Lincoln Park rates tend to be a smidge higher than rates elsewhere. Good luck. 16 sounds about right.

OP here. I thought most get paid pre-tax. Is 16 ( net) fair?

What is a fair amount of benefits. We were thinking 2-3 weeks paid vacation, all federal holidays, and 3-5 paid sick days.

Never discuss wages in net. Always discuss in gross. You don't know what deductions she's taking.

I would say your benefits packsge is right on target. I'm a nanny in Chicago and I always speak in terms of net. Never had an employer have a problem with figuring what the gross would be.
