We're in our first year and happy without au pair, but it feels like so many of her friends are going into rematch, just came here from rematch or are planning to go home. Is there a rough percentage of how many of these matches actually work out? It almost feels like you're lucky if your au parir just doesn't up and leave on you. It makes me nervous for future years.
|
| I've heard 25% but I think that might actually be the number who successfully complete a year, even though that year may be with multiple families. I suspect the true rate of completion of a year with a family is less than 50%. |
| (To clarify, the 25% figure would mean that 75% complete the year with one family. I really, really doubt that figure.) |
|
I think this varies quite a bit by cluster, but our LCC has 6-8 families and my AP only met other girl in rematch during her year here, and that rematch person was only in the cluster for a few weeks before going into rematch again, so I think she was an anomaly.
We're in year two and still haven't heard of any APs in our cluster go into rematch. |
| I am sure it varies greatly. My coordinator at IE told me the rate in her group is app. 12%, which is exactly our rate (1 rematch for 8 APs). When I interviewed the local coordinator for APIA, she told be her rate was over 30%. Her cluster size was also double ours at IE, with 40 families. I can't imagine APs and families get very personalize and attentive service with one LCC for 40 families... |

1. It should be legally mandatory for au pair agencies to post such statistics on their websites, easily available for any potential host family to see. Why isn't this already being done?
2. LCCs are typically over-burdened, especially when you consider their minuscule compensation. |
| Our agency told us the rate is approximately 33%. Our coordinator's rate seems much lower (very small cluster though). |
Will they confirm this in writing? Or not? |
Are you affiliated with the program? I don't know any host parents who are so concerned with the national average. |
Every smart consumer wants to know your rate of success/failure before making a choice. |
And to that point, if you are that interested, please call yourself and report your findings. |
Everyone has a right to know your basic statistics of failure or success. Surely you must keep these numbers. How else would you evaluate the abilities of your employees? |

I'm a HM and I would like transparency on this issue as well. It would help everyone to understand that it may, indeed, happen. It would also help the potential APs understand their risks as well. That said, they should also publish the stats for what % of APs rematch and then finish out their year.
I'd also like to know- what % of APs match or don't match in the first place. |
+1,000,000 What % of APs leave the program before their contract year is completed? |
|
In my experience with three agencies over 10 years, the LCCs are pretty open about these numbers with HFs and APs. They will absolutely give you rough numbers from their experience and will also tell you which nationalities have the higher rates of AP-initiated rematch and HF-initiated rematch and also which nationalities tend to have the highest rates of driving-related rematches.
If you are a legitimate HP, you should just ask your LCC or AD. |
