For our old nanny, I paid $500+ a year for nanny taxes with 4nannytax.com. Now with the new nanny, I think I would like to try to do nanny taxes myself if possible. I don't withhold federal of state income taxes, just the nanny payroll taxes, based on nanny tax calculator on the website. But I will need help filing all those social security taxes and unemployment taxes. Please advise. |
Intuit. |
We used nannypay.com for the calculations and paystubs, turbotax to file the schedule h, and the social security website to print and file the w2. |
You can pay everything except unemployment on your federal return at the end of the year. You need to contact your state dept of labor to find out how to do unemployment. |
Have you given your nanny w2? |
Why would they have? That's at the end of the year. |
Turbo Tax and Intuit |
I'm learning this year that I can't just pay all federal taxes I withheld when I file my taxes this coming April. Apparently, I should have been paying them all along. Thank you Intuit for not making this at all clear, and for actually telling me explicitly that I don't have to pay withheld taxes until I file my personal income taxes. The penalty isn't big, less than $50, but it is annoying to have to pay when I would have paid all along if I'd know. Isn't that why I'm paying the payroll company in the first place, to tell me how much, when and where to pay taxes on the household employee? Their advice on State taxes hasn't gotten me in trouble yet. |
