I live in DC and need to purchase workers' compensation insurance for a nanny we plan to hire in January. I searched the board and didn't see where folks in the city have been able to purchase a policy. Has anyone successfully purchased a policy in the past few months from an insurance carrier or agent? My understanding is that I can purchase a policy through the National Council on Compensation Insurance but that it will be more expensive than purchasing one directly from an insurance company. My homeowners' insurance company does not offer this type of policy and the handful of insurance companies I've contacted don't offer it in DC. Has anyone had any luck with this? TIA.

I know this post is from a while back, but I have heard of two places (though I'd love to find more)

Can people let me know what you paid for Workers Comp? I am in Maryland and was quoted $600 for a year, which seemed high.

When I signed up with Homework Solutions they connected me with their insurance partner - easy online application, about $700 a year. So much easier than dialing for dollars trying to find this on my own.

I thought that too, and then I moved to Georgia and almost had a heart attack. $1200!
