My daughter's nanny has been with us for a little over a year. She is moving out of state to be with her partner. I am devastated, but grateful that she made the transition for me as a new parent going back to work easy. She was an exceptional, fantastic nanny.
What would you recommend as a parting gift? |
| She is bailing after a year? I bet she told you up front she plans to be in the area for a long time and wants a long term job right? I would give her a hug and a pat on the back along with her final paycheck. |
| I worked for a family who moved out of state last year. They gave me a 2015 calendar related to an upcoming trip I had planned, $100 visa gift card and a *very* nice handwritten note. I loved it. |
Such negativity. Life happens, you don't know the circumstances of the move. And the family obviously has a great relationship with the nanny- which is why they are asking for advise on appropriate gifts. I would say that a nanny would always appreciate a monetary gift but if that isn't an option I would think a thought out card would mean just as much! |
PP: This is the same person who always posts a first response and likes to stir the pot. Ignore this person and he/she will have to get jollies somewhere else. OP: You sound like a great employer who truly values the benefits that your nanny brought to your family. All employers should take notes from you. As a nanny myself, I can truly state that nothing is better than cold hard ca$h, however running a close second I DO love gift cards as well. And/Or you could do something hand made from your daughter if she is old enough, like a craft from her.

This is the same fat troll who has never been or had a nanny. She has no life. I agree - ignore her, OP. As for a nice gift for your nanny, my favorite gift ever was a beautifully framed photograph of me with my adorable charge. |
This is the same nanny that tries to make all nannies look like they are only in it for the money. They post the same way each time. |
| PP- everyone who has a job is in it for the money. It may be surprising to you but nannies also have bills to pay and groceries to buy. Of course there are nannies that love their job and have genuine feelings towards their charges but they still wouldn't work for free. |
Maybe a gift certificate for a full (Interior/exterior) auto detail? I know after having kids in and out of my car I would love to have it squeaky clean again
