Safe driving record? RSS feed

Anonymous
Our insurance company is asking our next au pair to submit something called a "safe driving record." Our three previous APs have been able to supply this from home, but this year's AP (coming in Aug) says that no one in his country knows what he is talking about when he requests this. Our current AP sent him a copy of his, but the new AP said that even while showing the police and motor vehicles the letter that our current AP got, no one will give him one of these. I am wondering if he is using the wrong term of something to ask, since the other APs (including current who is from the same country) have gotten this. Previous APs were German except current and future, who are Austrian. Has anyone dealt with this with a German or Austrian AP and know how to go about advising Ap on where to get this and what it might be called over there? Thanks so much.

We have one from Australia and didn't provide that to the insurance.

We've never been asked for this in 8 years of hosting. I don't even know where we would get this here in the US...

Never been asked. Your insurance company sounds wack.

Op here. We have been hosting 9 years and never needed this before we moved to MA. Now we do but I don't think it has to do with our state but rather with our insurance (Commerce).

So future au pair is in Austria?
Tell him to go to the ÖAMTC (Austrian AAA) or the VVO (Verband der Versicherungsunternehmen Österreichs) and ask where he could probably get a safe driving record. What he needs is an "Auskunft aus dem Fahreignungsregister" (or at least that is what it would be called in Germany, it might be named slightly different in Austria) or an "Auszug aus dem Führerscheinregister." His local motor vehicles department (KFZ Zulassungsstelle) should also be able to help him. I highly doubt that "nobody knows what he is talking about."
