| My nanny would love to find other nanny's with toddler aged kids for play dates (we are in the Takoma DC) area. I want to help her but have struggled to find mom/nanny friends of my own. Any suggestions? |
| My nanny met other nannies and kids at the park. They got to know each other over time. Then, they set up play dates. |
| Park, library, tot groups for homeschool groups, toddler activities like Music Together and gym class, word of mouth through nanny network, neighbors, the list goes on. Why can't your nanny find any of these? |
? She's met some nice moms and kids at the park but the kids haven't been close enough in age for a play date. Our local library hour for my kids' age group is kind of lame. Our kids are just 18 months so we haven't done any formal classes. Can you recommend any (twins so gym is out since two parents or a parent/nanny combo is necessary at this age)? And what do you mean nanny network? We don't seem to have many nannies in the neighborhood (three home daycares right near by) |
Most nannies form a network of friends and tell each other when so-and-so took a position with a 2yo, so-and-so is looking for a playdate for 18 months, etc. That's the first thing I do when I move to a new area, because most SAHM don't want to set up playdates with nannies, is befriend other nannies and it doesn't matter what ages their charges are. And the network would be for an entire area, not just your neighborhood. If the library storytime doesn't work, she can take them to other libraries near your neighborhood. Try the kids' museum. Even if she finds someone on the other side of DC, she can use word of mouth to find someone closer. Try different parks. And she can make friends with the moms if they are amenable, see who knows of someone in the area with younger kids. Classes can be a variety of things, so a free play gym would be fine, or Music Together, or an art group, or homeschool groups that have toddler meet ups (and most do). Honestly, I'm confused about why you are posting instead of the nanny. This is nanny 101 as far as I'm concerned. |
