What would be a reasonable rate to pay per hour for a nanny to watch a 5 year, 2 4 year olds and 18 month baby in Arlington, VA?
Appreciate any advice! |
The lowest would be $20 for anyone halfway decent and reliable.
I have a nanny for $21 in Falls Church and only one child. |
At least $25-30/hr. That's a lot of work. |
This is OP: I should add that the 5 year old will be in school most of the day, and so the nanny would only have 4 kids around 2 hours per day. Thanks again for the advice!

That is a lot of work and will take real skill and stamina. I would think you ned to be in the mid-twenties at least.

How many hours per week? |
That really won't make much of a difference in the price. |
If nanny is still responsible for the 5 yo when there isn't any school, or when he/she is sick, then the cost difference is null.
in your situation, Care suggests $16/hour for someone with no experience up to $22/hour for someone with 10+ years experience. Generally, to retain a nanny, one needs to add at least 20% to the rate care suggests, so you would be looking at $19 - $27/hour. |
The percentage of parents who ever found at good nanny on care.com has to be below 10%. Sure. Anyone can get lucky, but not likely it'll be you.
You generally get what you pay for. |
$50/hr If you can find anyone that will do this |
....AND don't forget [i]responsibility too. ![]() |
We have an experienced and educated nanny whom we pay $25 an hour for three children around the ages of your children here in Arlington. |
