I would start now it can take some time to find a great fit.
Have your boss advertise on a listserv some professional communities have nanny swaps so mention there as well and of course there is Care.com or Sittercity.

1-2 mos before.
You could try now but you'll find things that start now or in a few weeks or, and it's hard, you'll find a family searching way ahead of time.
