| Does anyone here, MB or nanny, use guaranteed hours as opposed to guaranteed pay? How do you structure or calculate it? |
| We have a set schedule for our nanny - set hours on set days - that she is guaranteed to be paid for whether we use her or not. So if DH and I take DS to the doctors one morning and nanny is asked to come in an hour later than her set time, we pay her for that hour as if she worked. |
+1 It's a mutually agreed upon set schedule - which does also guarantee a certain minimum salary. We can ask nanny to work more than her guaranteed hours and will pay her for the additional hours but her payment for her guaranteed hours does not vary. |

I have a friend who does this. She works as an ER doc, and her husband is a small business owner. They have two nannies/babysitters and guarantee each a certain number of hours every week (15, I think), but they often give additional hours. They give them a schedule every 2 weeks for the following 2 weeks. Usually if one can't cover the time, then the other can.
Both their babysitters are young and still live at home, so they aren't struggling to make rent if they only get the minimum guaranteed hours one week. |
