Garanteed Pay,but have to make-up with another family. RSS feed

I am in my 6 month with a family, however the contract says I am guaranteed pay for 45 hours a week. But one part of the contract also says i will have to work with another family for an extra week off the family is taking. Is that legal? Since, I will be working for the another family and that means the family is not paying me my guaranteed paid since, it will be the other family paying me.
Is that guaranteed paid?

I don't know if it is legal but I don't understand why you would agree to be swapped out like a slave to another family for a week.

Guaranteed hours is X amount of dollars for X hours a week - no exceptions.

Why would you agree to something like that?

It sort of seems like guaranteed pay to me. In my mind, the purpose of guaranteed pay is to let you know that you can count on a paycheck to pay your bills even if we don't need childcare, and this will meet that criteria. However, that is a very odd situation. Do you know the other family? Would you want to work for them?

They should not be allowed to sub-contract you out.
You agreed to guaranteed pay with them.

Is that legal to have someone for another family and then you do not pay your nanny?

It's legal not to pay your nanny when you are on vacation. It's legal to recommend your nanny to another family if she wants to work during your vacation.

I honestly can't really understand why a) the nanny would agree to this, or b) what family needs a nanny for one random week. Unless this is some kind of swap with two families that arrange vacations and provide nanny coverage for the other.
