PTO for short term position? RSS feed

We'll soon be hiring a nanny for only 6 months. The candidates we'll interview are aware of the situation. What kind of PTO would you offer? 1 week after the first 3 months? Is something like that reasonable? Even though it's a short term position, I understand there are reasons that someone would still need time off.

I would just prorate the time accordingly. One week sounds fair, but not letting them use any of it for half of their time with you doesn't seem fair.

I would give any holidays off, and accrue PTO at 1 day a month or something. If she needs a day off in her first month, she could take it unpaid, or agree to reimburse the pay if she quits before the end of the month.

This sounds fair.
