We currently pay $18 / hour for one child. We are expecting our second but by the time the new baby arrives the older child will be in school. We have the option of doing after care so that would be all day (8-6) so nanny will no longer have many duties for older child unless school is closed. We do plan to give raise for second child but given that she still would be caring for one child what would be appropriate? |
Does she have newborn experience? |
Op here-yes. She has been with us since our first was an infant |
I am a nanny - no matter if one child would be in school, for an additional child I would expect at least $1/hr increase. |
I think if you expect the nanny to take care of your second child when there is no school, you should give a raise for an additional child. |
Exactly. If the Nanny is the one on-call for sudden illness or vacation days for the older child, you have to compensate her accordingly. Simple. |
My advice would be to give your nanny a raise and NOT do aftercare for your toddler - it is often too much for them. |
Perfect advice. |
Why would you want your child at school for 10 hours per day?
Apply the money you'd spend on after care to increasing your nanny's pay and let your kid be in his own home. |
