How hard is it to get a PT babysitter who can pick up my 5 year old from preschool at 2:30 and watch them until 4 M-F? What would the hourly pay need to be for something like this?
Have any other parents been successful with finding someone? It'll be a while before we need this set up but we may need something like this if we want to keep our DC in her current PT preschool. |
It's pretty tough to find somebody for only a few hours per day. Post the job at local community colleges job boards or search care.com and sittercity by your zip code, so that you have a better chance at finding someone who lives or works close to your home/daycare. If your community has a listserv, try that, too. |
Just 1.5 hours a day? Cannot imagine easy, unless you are near a college with grad students looking for a small job and greater that normal pay. |
+1 It will not be easy to find someone. First, start looking in your neighborhood - no one is going to do a long commute for 1.5 hours a day! |
Also look for a small family childcare provider who could drive and pick up your child and bring her home - or have a parent at the school drive your child to the babysitter/family childcare providers' home. You could have 2 different parents set up so nobody does it every day. And then maybe you can do something for those 2 families on the weekend - have the kids over for a few hours every few weekends to give the other parents a break, etc. |
