MB's, when is the appropriate time to give our nanny her bonus? Before xmas since she celebrates it, after (so she can pay her bills?)

Wednesday, would be Friday but we are going out of town.

The last working day before Christmas like any other Christmas bonus at any other job. Whether she spends it before Christmas or uses it to pay bills is NOT your business.

I always give it out a few weeks before Christmas, so that she can use it for holiday expenses. Everyone I've told this to has thought it was weird, though. But it makes sense to me!

And yet you had to respond to it.

OP, I give my nanny and housekeeper their bonuses on their last working day before Christmas.

Not weird. I'm sure your thoughtfulness is appreciated.

If you're an MB or a nanny who posted this, I would honestly tell you to go **** yourself.

I'm the OP and the reason I asked this question is because this is our first year with a nanny and oh btw, where I work we dont get bonuses until mid January.

But thank you to all the others for the answer.

If I knew my nanny was living in poor conditions, I'd give her the bonus early December so she can plan her holidays as she wishes.

If she doesn't seem to struggle, I'd give her on her last day before Xmas or the week before.

(I am a nanny)

PP, do youmean if she was living paycheck to paycheck? How would you know this without asking personal questions?

I would know if she had spoken to me about it, otherwise indeed I wouldn't know.

If my nanny were so unprofessional as to talk to me about her financial issues by saying she lived paycheck to paycheck I'd strongly consider firing her. Be professional.

Give it whenever you want to. As your original question points out, whenever she gets it, it should be helpful. I am going to wait until just before the holidays, but I think I even saw that some people on here give the bonus TG week so there's extra Black Friday money.

Christmas, is the operative word.
