Manager position?

I have 3 elementary aged children and live in Columbia Heights. I'm looking for help for 40 hours/week, 20 of which will be with the children (after school) and 20 of which will be household errands. We have a cleaning person so it wouldn't necessarily be cleaning, but doing things such as grocery shopping, meal prep, picking up dry cleaning, etc -- basically just making the household run smoothly. No benefits, but the manager (right? not a nanny? nanny-manager?) would get 13 paid vacation days at her choosing and most federal holidays (ie the major ones).

What can I expect to pay for this?

It would take $25 to convince an American to do all the shit jobs no one wants to do themselves but we have to because we are adults. Household manager is such a joke of a title.

These rates seem high. This is what my position entails exactly and I'm paid $15-20/hour. It's a little labor intensive to have fluctuating pay, but we felt that it's the only way that both of us felt comfortable with. When I'm running errands or have 1 child I make $15/hour, 2 kids $17/hour and I make $20/hour with all 3 kids.

How annoying to track your hours like that.

I feel so grateful for my flat rate, guaranteed hours at $25 an hour, 1 kid, both kids, no kids, or starting late and leaving early. Plus no housework or errands.

$20-22/hr should get you many good candidates, OP.

+1. If you don't expect the person to run on her own management (i.e., you plan to leave lists and instructions for each day), you could probably stay in the $18-$20 range. But, if you want someone who can take the job and run with it, then you need to be thinking more $20-$25.
