Is RedCross the only place where i can get my cpr certification?

Churches and other places offer them. They may be taught by the Red Cross.

Do a google search of your area. Many places offer the course.
I have seen CPR and first aid offered at community colleges, high schools, community learning centers, hospitals, parenting groups, fire departments, child care centers etc
Just make sure you go to a reputable program with a certified instructor skip the online programs

The American Heart Association offers a course.
You can also Google "CPR certification"and find many local businesses who offer classes. Be sure to complete your certification in an actual class and not online. Nothing teaches you like in-person instruction. Trust me, I've had to use it on the job.

I paid twenty dollars for an on-line course and got my CPR and First Aid certification over the internet.

My bosses just glance at the certificate and say it is fine.

Could it be a fake....?

It's not fake. It's just not nearly as good. Personally, I wouldn't accept online certification. But if your bosses are fine with it, that's fine.

I sincerely hope you never have to administer CPR. You'll have no idea what you're doing.

This. I've had to do CPR before. You really need to know the feel of it. You have to compress wayyyy harder in real life than how it looks in the videos. Thankfully I did an in-person class and was corrected after initially not compressing deep ebough on the mannequin. I'm so glad I did it in person as there is no way the CPR would have worked otherwise.

I've always sent my nannies to the Red Cross hybrid class. Red Cross certification is good for two or three years, which is nice, and the hybrid class means they still get in-person instruction, but can do the reading/video portion at home.

I agree with this. I'm an MB and I wouldn't accept an online certificate.

I have had to perform CPR, the Heimlich Maneuver and several instances of first aid while on the job (all on children). If I hadn't practiced on that dummy, there would be NO way I would have been able to do it.
The easy way isn't the best way. This is not something you should half-ass.

Don't worry, you will never have to use CPR. If you end up using it you should have bought a lotto ticket cause you would be rich. Its that rare.

It's an asinine thing to say. Deal.
