Best place to advertise or find afternoon babysitter for older kids? RSS feed

Anonymous
We are seeking an afternoon babysitter for our kids (9 and 12) to drive them to afterschool activities and supervise until we get home. Schedule would be 2-7, 5 days per week. Where is the best place to advertise for this, or where is the best place to find a good person for this? Most nannies seem to be for younger kids . . . .

We are in Bethesda.

TIA for the advice!

Older kids don't need any specialized experience, so care.com or sittercity should find you plenty of candidates.

I found my (similar) job through sittercity

How are you wording your ad? The headline and body of the ad should make clear whether you need house cleaning, dinner prep, homework help, etc. The word 'supervise' is not very clear/implies they are only there to make sure the house doesn't burn down and nothing else.

American University used to have a JobCorps board through their student government. When I was in school that was there I got all of my babysitting gigs and eventually my mother's helper gig that gave me room and board (and great contacts).
