what should I charge?

I work in the NW DC area looking after two babies for one family at a rate of $16/hr. there is a new baby on the way and I am wondering what I should charge for the additional baby.

I wouldn't do any less than $22 per hour. That's $11 per hour, per family. The old family will be saving $5 an hour, and the new family will be getting childcare at an incredibly good price.

You were underpaid to begin with so it may not be possible to make the leap to what you are worth now. The cost per child should go down with additional children but you are charging dangerously low right now.

You're right, I totally misread. I assumed since OP said she was already caring for two babies.

You need AT LEAST $23/hour. Yes, this is reasonable, I care for newborn and 2 year old at $22/hour, family in NW also.

She's at $16 now, and presumably was ok with that rate. No way is she going to get a $7/hr raise! Be reasonable people; some of you are going to lose other people's jobs for them.

$23/hour is what she deserves, now, will she get it ? Probably not.. She was okay with $16/hour for 2 kids so she probably won't get more than 19/hour at most.

OP here - thank you for the feedback. I agree re being underpaid to begin with. At the time of interviewing with my family I was coming off a bad situation and was just grateful for employment with a decent family. There could be a 'leap' as the babies are thriving in my care and there is very good compatibility with myself and family....it's worth asking.

Hi everyone, I want a advice I current looking for nanny job but one lady offer me $13 an hr to pick up the children from the bus stop take them to there activities also do laundry, cook, clean the house help the children with homework I talked that is little money to do too much work I really need the Job but For little money is not fair pay, I am citizen, experience 10 years.

I was responding as a mom. It's not really any different with one or two. I have two preteens and tbh it's easier with two than with one, because with one you have to be their for them constantly, with two they can also entertain each other.
